Daga maintains innocence – Lawyer

Published

on

Flying Eagles star Daniel Daga has maintained his innocence after he was sentenced to six months in prison for sexual misconduct in Norway.

His lawyer, Astrid Bolstad, told TV2: “He is terribly sorry that the verdict was the way it was. He believes he is innocent and that everything happened with consent.

“The verdict is not final. He will be treated like everyone else until he is sentenced.”

This means the 19-year-old midfielder will continue to train with his Norwegian club, but will not be selected for matches until further notice.

Molde put up a statement Tuesday to this effect.

“This is a very demanding matter for everyone involved. As an employer, Molde Football Club has a responsibility to look after our employees in a responsible manner, while at the same time we have great respect for the seriousness of the matter and the burdens this entails for all parties concerned,” the club announced.

“Based on the situation and the ongoing legal process, the club has decided that the player will not be part of the match squad until further notice.”

Tonight, Super Eagles midfielder Frank Onyeka scored his first goal for Coventry City – and it was such a beauty.

He scored in the 12th minute to open scoring for home team Coventry City against Derby.

It was a superb curler from a difficult angle just inside the box that sailed past the Derby goalkeeper.

Coventry City won 3-2 to consolidate their leadership of the Championship.

They have 83 points from 40 matches, 11 points clear of second-placed Millwall with six rounds of matches to end of the regular season.

Onyeka is on a season-long loan in the English Championship from Premier League club Brentford with the proviso he will sign a permanent deal should Coventry win promotion to the English top league at the end of the season.
