Alex Iwobi played a decisive role by scoring one and providing assist for another goal to inspire superb second half for Fulham after a tightly contested first half ended goalless.
The breakthrough arrived in the 54th minute when Raúl Jiménez powered home a header from Iwobi’s well-delivered corner to put the visitors ahead.
Fulham quickly built on that momentum, doubling their lead seven minutes later.
Jiménez showed his composure from the spot, converting a penalty after Sunderland were penalised for a foul inside the area.
The home side attempted to spark a revival in the 76th minute when Enzo Le Fée reduced the deficit with a penalty of his own following a challenge by Ryan Sessegnon.
Sunderland briefly sensed an opening, but Fulham remained in control.
Any lingering hopes of a comeback were extinguished five minutes from time as Iwobi capped an outstanding all-round display.
Racing onto a quick counter-attack, Alex Iwobi calmly finished after being teed up by Harry Wilson to seal the points.
The result brought an end to Fulham’s three-game losing streak in the Premier League and moved Marco Silva’s side into the top half of the table.
For Iwobi, the match stood out as a statement performance, combining creativity and composure to underline his growing influence in Fulham’s push for a European place.

How Frank ‘The Tank’ Onyeka Powered Coventry City to Championship Glory and Premier League Return
Frank Onyeka played a decisive, if sometimes understated, role in Coventry City’s 2025–26 EFL Championship title-winning campaign, providing the midfield steel and balance that underpinned their surge back to the Premier League.
Midfield Stability and Tactical Discipline
Arriving on loan from Brentford in February, Onyeka quickly established himself as a key figure in manager Frank Lampard’s system.

Known for his physicality and work rate, the Nigerian international slotted into a deep-lying midfield role, shielding the defence and breaking up opposition attacks.
His presence allowed Coventry’s more attack-minded players to flourish, giving the team a stronger defensive structure during the crucial final stretch of the season.
Onyeka’s importance was evident in the decisive 5–1 victory over Portsmouth that sealed the title on Tuesday.
Starting in midfield, he helped Coventry establish early dominance, contributing to a commanding 3–0 lead before being substituted after 65 minutes.
While he did not score, his ball recoveries, positional awareness, and ability to transition play from defence to attack were instrumental in maintaining control of the game.
Key Contributions
During the Run-In
Despite joining midway through the campaign, Onyeka made 13 league appearances and delivered consistent performances.
One of his standout moments came in a crucial 3–2 win over Derby County, where he scored an important goal that kept Coventry’s momentum intact.
Nicknamed “The Tank,” Onyeka brought energy and resilience to a squad pushing for automatic promotion, particularly in high-pressure fixtures.
Promotion and Long-Term Impact
Coventry had already confirmed promotion days earlier with a draw against Blackburn Rovers, but the title triumph capped a remarkable season that saw the club return to the Premier League after a 25-year absence.
Onyeka’s impact has extended beyond short-term success.
The club’s promotion reportedly activated a clause to make his move permanent from Brentford, highlighting how integral he has become to Lampard’s long-term plans.
A Title Built on Balance
While Coventry’s attacking talents grabbed headlines, Onyeka’s role as the midfield anchor provided the foundation for their success. His ability to win duels, disrupt opposition play, and maintain tactical discipline proved vital in turning a promotion push into a title-winning campaign.
In a season defined by teamwork and structure, Onyeka emerged as one of the key pieces in Coventry’s return to the top flight.
