Arokodare insists on team success ahead personal glory

Tolu Arokodare has maintained that Wolves survival in the Premier League is the main focus and not any personal glory.

Wolves are rock bottom of the table after they lost their 19th game of the season and they are now 18 points from safety after 25 rounds of matches.

“Now I’m not really thinking about myself. I’m thinking more about the team, because if the team is doing great, then I’ll be doing great too,” Arokodare said.

“The individual performances, they come second, the team comes first.

“Obviously, it’s not easy, but I just have to stay focused, help my teammates and they help me, and together we will all achieve what we want, and that’s getting three points.”

The Super Eagles striker has scored twice in the Premier League to rank him among his team’s leading scorers.

Tomorrow, Wolves will be guests of 17th-placed Nottingham Forest as they battle to stay up in the Premier League.

Will Iwobi’s 100 caps stand?

Published

Record keepers have questioned the 100 caps for the Super Eagles credited to Alex Iwobi.

The Super Eagles presented the Fulham star with a plaque to mark his milestone appearance before Wednesday night’s friendly against Portugal.

However, the records showed that FIFA chalked off a 2018 World Cup qualifier in Algeria after the game was forfeited by Nigeria for fielding an ineligible player – Shehu Abdullahi.

Also, FIFA also chalked off a friendly against Togo in 2017 because of the record number of substitutes played in the game.

That would then mean that Iwobi is on 98 caps, two games away from the Century milestone…
