NFF: Eric Chelle stays put as Super Eagles coach

NFF president Ibrahim Gusau has said he is confident Eric Chelle will remain as Super Eagles coach beyond his contract.

Eric Chelle, 48, is halfway through a two-year contract amid interests from countries and clubs for his expertise.

“Eric Chelle still has a year left on his contract, he enjoys working with Nigeria, he believes in the Super Eagles and he believes he can achieve with this national team,” Gusau said.

“The key thing is that he has a great belief in the team and that he can achieve his dream with the team.”

Eric Chelle has been linked with several teams since he led the Super Eagles to third place at the 2025 AFCON in Morocco.

Ademola Lookman starts in Copa del Rey rematch vs Barcelona

Ademola Lookman is most likely to start for Atletico Madrid in tonight’s Copa del Rey semifinal return leg at Barcelona.

The Super Eagles forward scored a goal and made an assist for Atletico to thrash Barcelona 4-0 in the first leg.

Ademola Lookman only played the first half of his club’s last La Liga match against Real Oviedo this past weekend s second striker alongside Alexander Sorloth.

In the likely starting XI from Monday’s final training, he was played from the left flank with Antoine Griezmann and Julian Alvarez the two strikers in a 4-4-2 formation.

Atletico seek to reach their first Copa del Rey final since 2020.

Kick-off is 9pm.

Trabzonspor give injury update on goal hero Nwaiwu

Turkish giants Trabzonspor have provided an update on the injury suffered by defender Chibuike Nwaiwu.

Trabzonspor announced that Nwaiwu, who scored twice in a 3-1 home win over Fatih Karagumruk at the weekend, suffered a thigh injury during the game.

An MRI scan showed that the defender suffered bleeding and edema in the inner left thigh that forced him out of the game.

Trabzonspor doctor Ahmet Besir said the player has begun treatment of the muscle injury.

Moses Usor posted a Man of the match performance for Austrian club LASK FC in a thrilling 2-2 draw at Austria Wien.

LASK are third on the league table with 34 points in 21 games.

The 24-year-old forward opened the goal scoring for the visiting team in the 23rd minute.

He went on to assist Christoph Lang in the 73rd minute to give his side a 2-1 lead.

The former Slavia Praha player has now scored eight goals in 20 league games and one in the cup games.

He was substituted in the 74th minute with Maximilian Entrup.

Nigerian-American George Bello was in action for LASK for the entire duration of the game.

Samuel Adeniran was an 81st minute substitute for LASK as he replaced Sasa Kalajdzic, while another Nigerian at the club Emmanuel Michael was an unused substitute.
