Filipina5 fall to Vietnam, drop to third in ASEAN Futsal Championship
The Philippine Women’s National Futsal Team suffered its first setback in the 2026 ASEAN Women’s Futsal Championship, falling 2-0 to defending champion Vietnam on Thursday in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand.
Vietnam, eager to recover from its two-goal loss to Australia yesterday, opened the scoring just five minutes into the match.
Le Thi Thanh Ngan converted a precise pass from teammate Nguyen Phuong Anh to give the Vietnamese the early lead.
The Filipinas saw their hopes dashed in the 37th minute when Bien Thi Hang unleashed a long-range shot that slipped past goalkeeper Samantha Hughes, sealing the 2-0 result.
With the loss, the Philippines sits third in Group B with three points and a goal difference of minus one, while Australia and Myanmar continue their matches as of this report.
The Filipinas will aim to bounce back tomorrow when they face Australia at 5 p.m.
