Galatasaray received a huge confidence booster leading up to Wednesday’s UEFA Champions League rematch at Liverpool when Victor Osimhen scored for them to beat city rivals Istanbul Basaksehir 3-0 in the Super Lig.

The home win has taken Galatasaray seven points clear of nearest rivals Fenerbache.
Osimhen grabbed his 12th Super Lig goal this season in the 67th minute.
It was an audacious effort as he controlled a long ball inside the box before he fired past the goalkeeper.
This was just moments after a spectacular overhead kick by the Super Eagles striker crashed against the crossbar.
Wednesday night, Galatasaray will take a 1-0 lead to Anfield from the UEFA Champions Round of 16 first leg in Istanbul.
The overall winners of this tie will advance to the quarterfinal of the competition.

Onyeka praised for big impact at Premier League hopefuls Coventry City
Super Eagles midfielder Frank Onyeka has earned rave reviews for the huge impact he has made at Premier League hopefuls Coventry City.
Brentford loanee Onyeka scored his first goal for English Championship table-topping Coventry City to edge past Derby County 3-2 Friday night.
It was his first goal in two years in England.
In February, Onyeka was also Man of the Match when Coventry bagged three vital points at Swansea courtesy of a 2-0 win.
Coventry are now 11 points clear at the top of the standings with six rounds of matches to the end of the regular season.
“Eight Coventry appearances and seven wins. I think that says it all,” remarked former player and now agent Curtis Davies.
“Frank Onyeka has been a very good signing for Coventry City,” added @number2blue
“Loan signing likely to become permanent with promotion.
“Has the goal but overall play been very good in game v Derby.”
“Frank Onyeka has been a massive signing for Lampard. He’s too good for this level,” hailed @Blue_Footy
Most certainly not bad for the hard running midfielder after many questioned his decision to drop down a division so as to enjoy regular first-team football in England.

Trabzonspor Legend: Onuachu must crown top scorer prize with championship
One of Trabzonspor leading legends has tasked Paul Onuachu to not only finish as the Goal King of the Turkish Super Lig, but also crown this feat by helping his club win the championship.
Necmi Perekli was Trabzonspor top scorer in the 1976/1977 season.
He has now said ahead of today’s top-of-the-table clash between Trabzonspor and Galatasaray that it would be meaningless to finish as top scorer of the league without also finishing as a champion.
“You become the top scorer, but you need to crown that top scorer title with a championship. If you don’t crown your top scorer title with a championship, then you’re just wasting your time,” he argued.
“Which of Trabzonspor previous top scorers led the team to a championship? This is a very important and delicate point.”
Onuachu is the leading scorer in the Super Lig with 21 goals, while his club are third in the standings with 60 points from 27 matches, just four points behind leaders Galatasaray.
Trabzonspor Legend Perekli was full of praise for the Super Eagles striker.
“He is the most outstanding goalscorer among Trabzonspor’s top scorers,” he remarked.
“Onuachu is a better goalscorer than all of Trabzonspor’s previous top scorers. Because he is a very successful player both defensively and offensively.
“He can use his height well. He can make good use of balls coming from the right and left. He has two wingers who play well and suit him, and with their help, and with the support of the midfield from behind, Onuachu has scored and will continue to score goals.”
He added: In fact, if it weren’t for the Africa Cup, I think Onuachu would have scored 25-30 goals by now.
“He might miss in some matches, it’s not a problem. The important thing is to prepare better for the next match.
“But I think he will score in this match. As I said before, if he can use his speed and strength economically against the opposing team’s heavy defense, he will find goal opportunities and score.”
Onuachu has yet to score against Galatasaray.
