NVL Playoffs: Nemostars disqualified, Elyon headed to finals

In a stunning turn of events that has sent shockwaves through the volleyball community, Elyon VC has been awarded a spot in the National Volleyball League finals following a successful petition against Nemostars VC.
The decision, communicated in an official letter from Uganda Volleyball Federation (UVF) President Sadik Zaid Nasiwu dated March 28, 2026, comes after a swift investigation into the eligibility of certain players fielded by Nemostars.
The dispute began when Elyon VC filed two formal petitions challenging the inclusion of two specific players in the Nemostars lineup, Salva Maria and Federicko Mujinya.
In response to the allegations, the UVF President appointed a special committee of three executive members to investigate.
The committee convened on March 27, 2026, to review the evidence and the 2022 UVF bylaws.
The committee’s findings were definitive: both Salva Marial and Federicko Mujinya were found to be in breach of the UVF Constitution and the 2022 UVF bylaws.
As a result of this technical violation, the UVF has overturned the match results. The official ruling states, Elyon VC is awarded a 3-0 win over Nemostars VC.
Elyon VC officially progresses to the National Volleyball League finals. The ruling serves as a stern reminder to all clubs regarding the importance of administrative diligence.
In his closing remarks, President Nasiwu emphasised a commitment to the integrity of the sport.
”We would like to advise anyone to follow the constitution, the rules and regulations of the game of volleyball in the country.”
While Nemostars, a powerhouse in Ugandan volleyball, will undoubtedly be devastated by the disqualification, Elyon VC now prepares for the biggest stage in the country.
Fans find themselves in a cold mood after a massive shift in the two teams that will take part of the Mens’ final.
