The Delhi Capitals beat the Lucknow Super Giants by six wickets despite an initial hiccup in Match 5 of the 2026 Indian Premier League at the BRSABV Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.

Being put into bat, the Lucknow Super Giants were bowled out for just 141. LSG were never able to get going in their innings, losing wickets at key intervals. Mitchell Marsh’s 35, filled with crisp shots around the ground, and a rearguard innings of 36 from Abdul Samad helped them to 141. The innings also saw the unfamiliar sight of Rishabh Pant opening the batting, but he was also not able to get going, being dismissed for just seven runs due to an unfortunate run-out.

The Delhi bowlers put on a superb display, picking up regular wickets, and holding the Lucknow batters at bay. The pick of the bowlers were T Natarajan and Lungi Ngidi, who picked up three wickets each. Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav were key with their spin, choking LSG’s momentum in the middle-overs, and picking off LSG batters in the process. Kuldeep finished with two, while Axar finished with one wicket.

In response, the Lucknow Super Giants came out all guns blazing with the ball, leaving the Delhi Capitals reeling at 33/4 at the end of the powerplay. Mohammed Shami dismissed KL Rahul with the first ball of the innings, as he sliced one to third man. The returning Mohsin Khan dismissed Nitish Rana, while Prince Yadav dismissed Pathum NIssanka and skipper Axar Patel for a duck.

Sameer Rizvi and Tristan Stubbs then came together and put on an unbeaten 119-run partnership, as they absorbed the pressure and took on the Lucknow bowlers when they erred with their lengths. They ensured Delhi lost no more wickets, finishing the game with 17 balls to spare. Rizvi finished unbeaten on 70 off just 47 balls, with Stubbs, largely playing second-fiddle, finishing unbeaten on 39.

The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) piled even more misery on the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) after the five-time champions secured a comfortable 32-run victory at the M. A. Chidambaram Stadium on Tuesday, April 14, in Match 22 of the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL).

Having been invited to bat first, CSK posted 192 runs from their quota of 20 overs. None of their batters put up a score of 50 or more. However, there were healthy contributions up and down the batting order. Sanju Samson top-scored with 48 whilst opening the batting. He was aided brilliantly by Ayush Mhatre, who hit a 17-ball 38 to stamp his authority in the opening overs.

KKR started slowly and were always chasing the game the moment they lost Finn Allen in the second over. The 2024 champions kept on losing wickets at regular intervals, with Ramandeep Singh’s 23-ball 35 being their highest individual score. Noor Ahmad was the pick of the bowlers for CSK. The Afghanistan spinner took three wickets and only conceded 21 runs from his four overs.

Similar to every single IPL game this season, CSK vs KKR also saw a bunch of individual and team milestones being accomplished. These included major landmarks for both batters and bowlers in their respective careers. However, not all milestones are positive in nature. There were a couple of unwanted records that KKR found themselves on the wrong side of.

Here are the most important stats and milestones from Match 22:

  • 72: CSK’s second-highest powerplay score against KKR in IPL history
  • 192: CSK’s total is the second-highest innings total in IPL history without a single individual 50+ score
  • Noor Ahmad: Reached 50 IPL wickets
  • Rovam Powell: Reached 6,000 T20 runs
  • CSK: Become the first team in this year’s IPL to successfully defend a total less than 200
  • KKR: For the first time, they remain winless after the first five games of an IPL season.
  • 6: KKR’s joint second-longest losing streak in IPL history

The Rajasthan Royals (RR) have suffered their first defeat of the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) after the Sunrisers Hyderabad secured a 57-run victory at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Monday, April 13.

Having been asked to bat first, SRH posted 216 on the board after the completion of their 20 overs. This was despite them losing Abhishek Sharma on the very first ball of the game. The 2016 champions were propelled to the total thanks to their stand-in captain Ishan Kishan, who scored 91 from 44 balls. There were healthy contributions from Heinrich Klassen, who hit a 26-ball 40 and Nitish Kumar Reddy’s 28.

The RR run-chase could not have started any worse. Vidarbha’s Praful Hinge on his IPL debut derailed the run chase before it could get going. The right-arm seamer picked up three wickets in the first over, including those of Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Dhruv Jurel. The table toppers were restricted to 9 for 5. It was put to Donovan Ferreira and Ravindra Jadeja to rebuild the innings. The pair put 118 off 72 balls for the sixth wicket, with Ferreira scoring 69 off 44 balls. It was, however, too little too late to forge an unlikely comeback.

As has been the case all season long, the game against SRH and RR saw a few milestones being accomplished by both players and the team as a whole. However, not all records are positive in nature. There were also a few unwanted landmarks reached by both the players and the teams. However, there have also been some memorable performances which will forever form part of the tournament’s folklore.

Here are the most important stats and milestones from Match 21:

  • Praful Hinge: First bowler to take three wickets in the first over of an IPL innings
  • 2 for 4: The joint-lowest score at the fall of the fourth wicket in IPL history
  • 12: Rajasthan Royals have taken a wicket off the first ball the most number of times in IPL
  • 7: Abhishek Sharma now has the most ducks in a calendar year in T20s by an Indian
  • Abhishek Sharma: Becomes only the second SRH batter to be dismissed off the first ball
  • 91: Ishan Kishan’s score is the second-highest individual score as a captain vs RR

Defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) returned to winning ways with a win over the Mumbai Indians (MI) at the iconic Wankhede Stadium on Sunday, April 12.

After being asked to bowl first on an outstanding batting wicket, RCB openers Virat Kohli and Phil Salt came out all guns blazing. The pair put 120 on the board in less than 11 overs. Salt returned to form to score 78 off just 36 deliveries to top score for the defending champions. His hitting mantle was taken over by captain Rajat Patidar, who scored a quick-fire 53 at a strike-rate of 265.

In reply, MI were never really in the game and continued to lag behind the required run-rate after each passing over, eventually falling 18 runs short. Sherfane Rutherford was the star of the show with the bat, scoring an unbeaten 71 off 31 deliveries, an innings which comprised nine sixes. The efforts, however, were too little too late for the five-time champions in the end.

The win takes RCB to six points from their opening four matches, and the last year’s champions find themselves third in the standings. MI, on the other hand, have now lost three consecutive games in the league and remain eighth in the table, only above the Chennai Super Kings and the Kolkata Knight Riders.

Like most IPL games, the MI vs RCB match also saw a plethora of personal and team milestones. These include major landmarks for iconic players like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.

Here are the most important stats and milestones from Match 20:

  • Virat Kohli: Becomes the first batter to score more than 1,000
  • Virat Kohli: Has been involved in most 100-run partnerships in T20s (47)
  • Phil Salt: Reached 350 sixes in his T20 career
  • 120: Partnership between Salt and Kohli is the second-highest opening stand for RCB against MI
  • Jitesh Sharma: Reached 1,000 runs in his IPL career
  • 71-0: RCB’s second-highest powerplay score against MI
  • Rohit Sharma: Reached 6,000 IPL runs for MI
  • 222: MI’s highest total against RCB in IPL, bettering 213/6 at the same venue in 2018.
