IPL 2026: Lucknow Super Giants’ strongest predicted XI against Kolkata Knight Riders (Source : IPL/BCCI)

The Lucknow Super Giants head to the Eden Gardens to take on the Kolkata Knight Riders on April 9, in Match 15 of the 2026 Indian Premier League. LSG got their campaign off to a start with their win against the Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 5 and will be looking to carry this momentum forward with a win against the Knight Riders.

Despite questions over their balance, they are slowly finding a team combination that is working for them. Blessed with a solid domestic bowling core and dangerous overseas batting options, they will pose a threat if their combinations are to click.

Here is the best potential playing XI for LSG for their match against KKR

Top order: Mitchell Marsh, Aiden Markram, Rishabh Pant (C & WK)

Mitchell Marsh was the best batter for LSG in 2025, with 627 runs in 13 games. Playing as a pure batter, without bowling responsibilities, has freed up the Aussie. While he started with a good-looking 35 against the Delhi Capitals, he was dismissed for 14 against the Sunrisers Hyderabad. His partner, Aiden Markram, returned to open against SRH and set the platform for their chase with a brilliant 45 off just 27 balls.

Rishabh Pant opened in the first game but had dismal results. He returned to bat at one-drop against the Sunrisers, against whom he anchored the chase with an unbeaten 68 off 50 balls. While he did not look his fluent best, the LSG skipper would be glad to have got runs to kick off the season.

Middle order: Nicholas Pooran, Ayush Badoni (impact player), Abdul Samad, Mukul Choudhary

Abdul Samad

Nicholas Pooran batted at No. 3 for LSG last season, scoring 524 runs in 14 games. But this season he has started slowly, with poor form persisting for the major part of the previous year. He is one of the most destructive batters in the shortest format, and it would be in LSG’s best interests if he could get runs under his belt.

Ayush Badoni will keep his place at No. 5 and is expected to come in as the impact player. Abdul Samad’s prowess as a six-hitter and bankable finisher iswell  known, and in Mukul Choudhary, LSG have a highly-rated domestic finisher.

Lower order/bowlers: Manimaran Siddharth, Avesh Khan, Mohammed Shami, Digvesh Singh Rathi, Prince Yadav

Mohammed Shami

The rejuvenated Mohammed Shami was at his best against the Sunrisers. With a spell of 4-0-9-2, he was threatening with the new ball and has led this domestic-heavy LSG attack to the best of his abilities. Prince Yadav has shown promise in the two games he has played with his accurate yorkers and high pace. Avesh Khan once again showed his value as a death bowler when he returned to the side in place of Mohsin Khan.

With the prominence of right-handers in the KKR batting lineup, M Siddharth is expected to keep his place. He was economical against the Sunrisers and picked up the wicket of Nitish Kumar Reddy. Digvesh Rathi, who did not have a great outing against Sunrisers despite bowling well in the powerplay, is expected to keep his place in the side.

Lucknow Super Giants predicted playing XI:

Aiden Markram, Mitchell Marsh, Rishabh Pant (C & WK), Nicholas Pooran, Abdul Samad, Mukul Choudhary, Manimaran Siddharth, Avesh Khan, Mohammed Shami, Digvesh Singh Rathi, Prince Yadav

Impact Player: Ayush Badoni

West Indies will aim to begin their five-match T20I series against India on a strong note when the two teams meet in the first game. The Caribbean side has a good mix of experienced campaigners and players who have recently made an impact in international cricket. Shai Hope is expected to take charge as captain and wicketkeeper, while the batting lineup has several players capable of scoring quickly in the powerplay and middle overs.

The likes of Shimron Hetmyer, Rovman Powell and Sherfane Rutherford bring plenty of T20 experience, while Roston Chase and Romario Shepherd provide valuable all-round options.

Here is West Indies’ predicted playing XI for 1st T20I vs India:

Top-order: Shai Hope (C) (WK), Amir Jangoo, Shimron Hetmyer

Shai Hope is expected to open the innings and lead the side from the front. The right-hander comes into the T20I series after an excellent ODI series against India, where he scored 278 runs in three matches. His unbeaten 162 in the third ODI was one of the highlights of the series and showed his ability to bat deep and control an innings.

Amir Jangoo also enters the series with plenty of confidence after scoring 239 runs in the three ODIs, including a century. He could partner Hope at the top and provide an attacking option during the powerplay. Shimron Hetmyer is likely to follow them and adds considerable experience to the top order. His ability to attack both pace and spin makes him a dangerous batter in T20 cricket.

Middle-order: Roston Chase, Sherfane Rutherford, Rovman Powell, Romario Shepherd

Roston Chase is expected to provide stability in the middle order while also giving West Indies an additional all-round option. He can rotate the strike and accelerate when required, while his off-spin could also be useful. Sherfane Rutherford is likely to take on the role of an aggressive middle-order batter. The left-hander has established himself as a reliable T20 player across different leagues and can change the momentum of a game with his power-hitting.

Rovman Powell brings vast T20 experience and is expected to play the role of a finisher. He has the ability to clear the boundaries consistently and can be particularly dangerous in the final overs. Romario Shepherd adds further depth to the batting lineup and can contribute with both bat and ball. His ability to score quick runs lower down the order makes him an important player in this combination.

Bowlers: Keemo Paul, Akeal Hosein, Gudakesh Motie and Matthew Forde

Akeal Hosein and Gudakesh Motie are likely to lead the spin attack for West Indies. Both left-arm spinners have considerable experience in T20 cricket and can be difficult to score against during the middle overs. Hosein, in particular, has played a key role for West Indies in the format over the years and can also operate with the new ball when required. Motie provides another quality spin option and has become an important part of the Caribbean side’s limited-overs setup.

Keemo Paul is expected to offer a different skill set with his variations and ability to bowl at different stages of the innings. Matthew Forde could complete the attack as the pace-bowling option. The young all-rounder can also contribute with the bat, giving West Indies additional depth and flexibility in the lower order.

West Indies’ predicted playing XI for 1st T20I vs India:

India face West Indies in the opening match of a three-match ODI series at Greenfield International Stadium, Thiruvananthapuram, on Sunday, September 27, 2026. There are certain questions about the middle-order composition and seam-bowling department as the team balances experience with emerging talent in a critical series.

Rohit Sharma returns after a two-month absence from international cricket, having last featured at Lord’s against England where he scored a century. Shubman Gill captains the side, while KL Rahul serves as vice-captain for the series. Gill has established himself as India’s leading run-scorer in ODIs during 2026, making him a cornerstone of the batting lineup.

Top order: Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill (C), Virat Kohli

Rohit Sharma opens the innings alongside captain Shubman Gill, with Virat Kohli positioned at number three. Kohli brings strong form in 2026 with a notable ODI record against West Indies. Gill’s consistency throughout the year has made him indispensable to India’s ODI plans, and his captaincy adds another dimension to the team’s leadership structure. Rohit will be high on confidence after his stellar century in the third ODI against England at Lord’s.

Middle order and lower Order: Ruturaj Gaikwad, KL Rahul (WK), Nitish Kumar Reddy, Ravindra Jadeja

Ruturaj Gaikwad takes the number four position in the absence of Shreyas Iyer, who is competing at the Asian Games. Gaikwad has accumulated 228 runs from 9 ODIs at an average of 28.50, numbers that don’t justify his talent as a batter. KL Rahul, aged 34, continues as wicketkeeper and vice-captain, bringing experience to the lower middle order. He is one of the best finishers in this side. Nitish Kumar Reddy replaces Hardik Pandya in the middle order, while Ravindra Jadeja returns to the ODI setup after an extended absence from the format. Reddy has improved his bowling considerably in recent times and would want to make a mark in the 50-over format. Meanwhile, Jadeja will have to perform well, as Axar Patel is waiting for his chance and Manav Suthar has also done well in the early stages of his international career, albeit in red-ball cricket.

bowlers: Gurnoor Brar, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna

The bowling attack features Gurnoor Brar, who is the quickest bowler in the setup. He has started his international career on an impressive note with 11 wickets from 6 ODIs. Kuldeep Yadav is expected to be the specialist spin bowler in the line-up, and this is his chance to show the world why he is rated so highly by experts and fans. Mohammed Siraj spearheads the pace attack in Jasprit Bumrah’s absence, shouldering the responsibility of leading India’s fast-bowling unit. Prasidh Krishna completes the bowling lineup, bringing 50 wickets from 28 ODI games to the squad and adding depth to the pace attack.

Zimbabwe T20I series SWOT Analysis: Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats

Zimbabwe vs Bangladesh
Zimbabwe vs Bangladesh (Source – Tanvin Tamim/GettyImages

Zimbabwe head into their three-match T20I series against Bangladesh from Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo as confident hosts following commanding victories in the Test and ODI contests. The Chevrons top their first-round group unbeaten at the recent T20 World Cup and registered memorable victories over Australia and Sri Lanka, establishing themselves as genuine contenders in the shortest format. Bangladesh arrive after losing the ODI series 2-1, seeking redemption and hoping a change of format can help them find form on this demanding tour.

Zimbabwe have largely retained the squad that reached the Super Eight stage of the 2026 T20 World Cup, with Sikandar Raza continuing to lead the side. The hosts named a 15-member squad featuring two new additions, exciting young pacer Newman Nyamhuri and top-order batter Milton Shumba, while retaining the core that impressed in February. Zimbabwe will be without Graeme Cremer due to a left-arm fracture, with Brendan Taylor and Tony Munyonga also absent.

Here’s the SWOT Analysis of Zimbabwe for T20I series vs BAN

Strengths: Squad and bowling depth

Sikandar Raza stands as Zimbabwe’s most valuable all-rounder, combining the ability to score quick runs and collect key wickets. His leadership has transformed the team’s mindset, evident from their World Cup campaign. Brian Bennett impressed everyone with an unbeaten 97 from 59 balls against India at the World Cup, providing the hosts with an aggressive platform at the top of the order and confidence heading into this series. Newman Nyamhuri’s recent performance across formats strengthens the pace attack, having claimed six wickets in Zimbabwe’s Test win before taking two wickets for 22 runs in the opening ODI. The pace battery remains a significant asset for the shortest format, with Blessing Muzarabani and Richard Ngarava adding experience and penetration.

Weaknesses: Batting consistency

Zimbabwe’s batting has shown inconsistency despite strong bowling displays, particularly outside the established top three. Middle-order contributions have been unreliable throughout the tour, creating vulnerability when early wickets fall. The absence of Graeme Cremer removes an important spinning option on surfaces with significant turn, limiting bowling variety against opposing batters who target spin bowling. Ben Curran and other fringe players remain relatively inexperienced at international level, which may tell if the series becomes competitive and pressure builds.

Opportunities: Press home advantage and build momentum

The T20I format provides a fresh canvas for both teams to reset after the ODI series. Milton Shumba’s recall after three years demonstrates Zimbabwe’s intent to strengthen their batting lineup, having finished as the leading run-scorer in the domestic T20 competition with 223 runs in eight matches. Venue statistics favour teams batting first at Queens Sports Club, where sides have won 16 of 25 T20Is, giving Zimbabwe tactical advantage if they win the toss. Bangladesh’s absence of key players through injury and leave grants the hosts a genuine opportunity to establish dominance early in the series and build belief ahead of future tournaments.

Threats: Bangladesh’s historical advantage and tactical vulnerabilities

Bangladesh hold a significant historical edge in the T20I rivalry against Zimbabwe, having won 17 of 25 meetings while Zimbabwe have claimed eight victories. Recent contests have proven more competitive, though Bangladesh lost the last five-match series 4-1 in 2024 before Zimbabwe finished the series on a high with an eight-wicket victory in the final match. Bangladesh’s absence of Mustafizur Rahman through a knee and hamstring injury removes their premier pace bowler, yet Taskin Ahmed and Shoriful Islam form a capable new-ball partnership that can exploit early movement. The Tigers will struggle for balance without experienced captain Litton Das, who misses the series due to a calf injury, forcing Towhid Hridoy into the leadership role at short notice. If Bangladesh settle into their rhythm during the series and Zimbabwe’s bowlers reveal patterns in their attack, complacency could prove costly for the hosts across all three matches.

Zimbabwe T20I Squad: Sikandar Raza, featuring Brian Bennett, Ryan Burl, Ben Curran, Brad Evans, Clive Madande, Tinotenda Maposa, Tadiwanashe Marumani, Wellington Masakadza, Tashinga Musekiwa, Blessing Muzarabani, Dion Myers, Richard Ngarava, Newman Nyamhuri, and Milton Shumba.
