[WATCH] Rohit Sharma gets annoyed at umpire during bat thickness check vs RCB

Rohit Sharma was seen visibly annoyed at the umpire before he walked in to bat in the second innings alongside Ryan Rickelton during their game against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday, April 12.
First started during the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL), umpires have made a constant effort to make sure that the dimensions of the bats used by the players are in accordance with the regulations, so that there is no unfair advantage in the bat vs ball contest.
However, when the umpire tried to check Rohit’s bat, the bat gauge instrument failed to pass entirely through as it should, despite multiple tries. At one point, Tilak Varma had to come and help the umpire check the bat correctly, which did not go down well with Rohit.
The full video of Rohit’s interaction with the umpire can be seen below:

It has become mandatory for batters to use bats that comply with Law 5 of the MCC’s Laws of Cricket. According to the rules, a bat is restricted to a thickness of 4cm (1.56 inches), the overall depth to 6.7cm (2.64 inches), and their width to 10.8cm (4.25 inches).
If any bat fails to meet the allowed restrictions, the batter cannot use it and instead has to bring out a new one. The one brought in as a replacement will also be checked by the umpire.
Unfortunately for the MI crowd, Rohit did not have a lot to contribute in the game as he left the pitch, retired hurt after five overs. The former captain, however, did hit one huge six on the leg side to surpass 6,000 runs for the franchise he first joined back in 2011.
RCB went on to win the contest by 18 runs after putting 240 on the board in the first inning. The defeat means MI are now winless in three consecutive games in the 2026 IPL.

[WATCH] Suryakumar Yadav poses for selfie with pitch-invading fan during T20 Mumbai League match

In a heartwarming turn of events, former India captain Suryakumar Yadav shared a great moment with a fan who invaded the pitch at the Wankhede Stadium during a T20 Mumbai League match.
In a video captured by a supporter in the stands, Suryakumar showcased his light-hearted side, treating the pitch invader with kindness instead of getting angry. The person initially touched the right-handed batter’s feet before the umpires intervened. Before leaving, the invader asked Suryakumar for a selfie, to which the 35-year-old duly obliged, striking a pose.
The Triumphs Knights MNE captain also urged the security personnel to behave nicely with the pitch invader as he was escorted off the ground.

It is worth mentioning that Suryakumar is not having the best of times in his international career. Despite guiding India to the T20 World Cup title earlier this year, the right-hander has not only been axed from the captaincy but has also been dropped from the side ahead of their white-ball tour to Ireland and England.
In his place, Punjab Kings skipper Shreyas Iyer has been recalled to the T20 setup and has straightaway taken over the leadership role.
Suryakumar’s poor form with the bat is the primary reason behind his sacking from the T20I side. The hard-hitting batter did not enjoy the best of times in the recently concluded Indian Premier League, where he scored just 270 runs from 13 matches at an average of 20.76 whilst striking at 147.54. These are his lowest tally of runs in a single IPL campaign since scoring 105 runs back in 2017 during his last season with the Kolkata Knight Riders.
