Bet your house on Ademola Lookman, Atletico Madrid to go past Arsenal to Champions League Final
Ademola Lookman is one of Super Eagles two world-class players with the other being Victor Osimhen.
The 28-year-forward again proved his worth with the decisive goal that booted Barcelona out of the UEFA Champions League and set up an interesting semifinal against Arsenal, who remain unbeaten in this season’s competition.
On Saturday, barring the unexpected ‘Mola’ will win his first trophy with Atleti when they take on Real Sociedad in the Copa del Rey final.
It will be the same weekend that Arsenal Premier League championship credentials will be seriously challenged with the visit to closest rivals Manchester City.
Thereafter, both Atleti and Arsenal could then shift focus on the first leg semifinal of the Champions League fixed for April 29 at the Metropolitano with the return tie at The Emirates on May 5.
Arsenal will be slight favourites to win to reach the final should we believe the bookmakers, but their recent struggles and the growing confidence enjoyed by Atletico have now made this match-up too close to call.
‘The Gunners’ have one of the best defences around, but they have struggled to score goals lately, while Atletico, once well known for their uncompromising defensive approach, are now scoring more freely even though they are also letting in some in the process.
Should Atleti not be taken a little more seriously to now reach their fourth Champions League final?
Ademola Lookman, for one, has been an inspired January signing by coach Diego Simeone – six goals and four assists in all competitions thus far.
He has also got the La Liga team firing again especially the talented Argentine striker Julian Alvarez, while the likes of Alexander Sorloth and Antoine Greizmann continue to ask opposing defences serious questions.
It would certainly make for some interesting reading were Ademola Lookman, who was born in London, to play a big role to deny a hometown club from reaching their second Champions League final.
Interestingly, it was another Spanish club, Barcelona, who denied Arsenal Champions League glory in the 2006 final.

Osimhen demands to start comeback game
Victor Osimhen has told the Galatasaray coach he wishes to start in his comeback game against relegation battlers Genclerbirligi Saturday.
The Super Eagles striker has been sidelined by an arm injury from last month’s UEFA Champions League tie at Liverpool.
Osimhen trained with the rest of Galatasaray first-team squad for the first time Wednesday sporting a special bandage to protect the affected arm.
According to Tavkim, he then had a private meeting with Galatasaray coach Okan Buruk during which he said he wants to start Saturday’s tricky visit to Genclerbirligi, who are just two points above the relegation zone.
In Osimhen’s absence, defending champions Galatasaray have lost several vital points so much so that they are now only two points ahead of bitter rivals Fenerbache going into the 30th round of the Turkish Super Lig.

It is Atleti’s first Champions League semis since 2017.
The Super Eagles forward pulled a goal back for home team Atletico after a lively Barcelona had raced into a 2-0 lead to cancel out the 2-0 deficit they suffered at home last week.
Ademola Lookman’s well-taken goal off a quick counter will prove the difference between the two La Liga teams.
He has now netted six goals for his La Liga club since his arrival from Atalanta in January.
Sofascore awarded him 7.7 points for his personal performance.
Atleti will now await tomorrow’s overall winners between Arsenal and Sporting Lisbon in the battle for a place in the final.
Arsenal won the first leg 1-0 in Portugal a week ago.
