Jamaldin Buchochera: Lugazi confirm signing of experienced defender

Uganda Premier League side Lugazi has confirmed the signing of experienced defender, Jamaldin Buchochera.

The development was confirmed today, Monday, July 13, 2026 via the club’s official social media platforms.

“We are pleased to announce the signing of defender Jamaldin Buchochera,” the statement partly reads.

The lanky defender joins Lugazi FC on a two-year employment contract joining from the Rwanda Premier League side Gasogi United.

He becomes Lugazi’s second signing in the ongoing transfer window after the acquisition of the side’s old boy Louis Anguti.

This comes in after the acquisition of Abbey Kikomeko Bogere and Bashir Ssemuyaba as the club’s head coach and assistant coach respectively.

According to the club’s website, Buchochera is a versatile and intelligent defender who can magnificently play in central defence, at right and the midfield.

He has previously played for Mbale Heroes, Gaddafi FC and BUL FC.

URA sign midfielder Elvis Ssekajugo

Uganda Revenue Authority Football Club (URA FC) has confirmed the signing of midfielder Elvis Ssekajugo from Express FC.

The Tax Collectors on Monday confirmed, the budding midfielder has joined them, putting pen to paper on a two-year deal.

“We are delighted to welcome exciting midfielder Elvis Ssekajugo to the Tax Collectors family. The talented midfielder joins us from Express FC as we continue to strengthen our squad ahead of the new season.”

Ssekajugo, expressed delight for joining URA and ready to continue developing as a player.

“I am delighted to join URA FC. It is a great opportunity for me to be part of a club with such a strong history and ambition. I am ready to work hard, give my best, and contribute towards the success of the team,” he said. “I want to keep improving as a player, learn from my teammates and the technical team, and play my part whenever I am called upon. I know the expectations at URA FC are high, and I am prepared to embrace the challenge.” He said as quoted by the club website.

At URA, Ssekajugo reunites with coaches Jimmy Kintu and Christian Magoba who he worked under at Express last season.

He becomes the second signing for the Tax Collectors, joining Muhammad Kyeyune who signed last week from Entebbe UPPC.

South Africa midfielder Jayden Adams tragically dies

South Africa and Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Jayden Adam’s has been pronounced dead on Saturday evening just a few days after playing at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Adams, 25, featured for the Bafana Bafana at the ongoing World Cup in Canada, Mexico and United States, playing in all the three group games.

South Africa’s Minister of sport, arts and culture Gayton McKenzie said, in a statement, “it is with profound shock and a heavy heart that I have learnt of the passing of Jayden Adams. South African football has lost one of its brightest young talents, and our nation mourns alongside his family, his team-mates and the millions of supporters who watched him grow from a promising academy prospect into a full Bafana Bafana international.”

Police in South Africa has opened an investigation after Adams body was found at a house in Schotschekloof, a suburb in central Cape Town on Saturday.

McKenzie stated that the cause of Jayden’s passing has not yet been confirmed and appealed to the public to exercise restraint and compassion, and to refrain from speculation, while his family and Mamelodi Sundowns are given the space and privacy they need.

“Any official information will be communicated by the appropriate parties in due course.” He said.

Adams began playing football at Stellenbosch, before moving to Mamelodi Sundowns in January 2025, helping the team to win the 2024/25 PSL League title and most recently the CAF Champions League.

FIFA President also conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the family and the football fraternity in South Africa and beyond.

“It’s so incredibly sad to hear that South Africa midfielder Jayden Adams has passed away just weeks after featuring in his nation’s historic Fifa World Cup campaign. My thoughts and condolences, as well as those of everyone at Fifa and the global football community, are with his family, friends and team-mates. The Bafana Bafana and Mamelodi Sundowns star will be sorely missed. May he rest in peace.” He stated.

Cesar Manzoki returns to Vipers

Uganda Premeir League Champions Vipers continue to show their intent ahead of the season by bolstering their squad with new arrivals.

Over the past few days, the Venoms have been on a recruiting spree, including announcing a new coach in Frenchman David Lavagne.

The latest acquisition for the Entebbe-road based side is striker Cesar Lobi Manzoki who returns to the club for the second stint.

Vipers confirmed the return of Manzoki on Saturday evening, putting to paper on a two-year deal.

“Vipers SC is delighted to announce the return of the Congolese goal machine ahead of the 2026/27 season, bringing back a player whose name remains etched among the greatest ever to wear the famous red and black. Cesar Lobi Manzoki has returned home after putting pen to paper for a two-year deal.” Confirmed the club.

The Central African Republic international first arrived at Kitende in 2021 and featured for the club for two seasons, scoring 26 goals in 46 League matches.

In the 2022/23 campaign, Manzoki was the top scorer with 18 goals helping the team to win the League that season.

Since his departure, he has played at Dalian Pro in China, Hatta Club in the United Arab Emirates, Mohammedan Sporting Club in Bangladesh and most recently Eastern District FC in Hong Kong.

Upon return, the gangly forward who has been training with the club recently believes this is like coming back home.

“It’s amazing to be back to a place I call home, rejoining Vipers SC is something I think someone is lucky enough to experience once in a lifetime, but for me it is happening twice. That makes it even more special because I enjoyed fantastic years here.” He said.

Manzoki becomes the fourth signing for Vipers in this transfer window, joining Joel Sserunjogi, Nicholas Mwere, Loyce Mbaba from Ghabon and Congolese defender Jacques Mangoba.
