From Emeka Obioma’s clinical brace for Abia Warriors and Aderemi Adeoye’s stunning free-kick for Ikorodu City to Harrison Ebah’s remarkable redemption goal for Nasarawa United, the weekend produced plenty of moments worthy of recognition.
Sports247 presents the EuroMatch Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Players Scorecard for Matchday 6, highlighting players whose goals, saves and individual performances stood out across the weekend fixtures.
Joseph Atule — Forward, Barau FC
Joseph Atule stepped up from the penalty spot to put Barau FC ahead against Sporting Lagos at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Lagos. His composed finish gave Barau the advantage before Sporting Lagos fought back to secure a 1–1 draw.
Atule’s contribution underlined his importance to Barau FC’s attacking threat as the club continued its campaign with a valuable point on the road.
Emeka Obioma — Striker, Abia Warriors
Emeka Chukwumeka Obioma delivered one of the standout attacking performances of Matchday 6, scoring twice as Abia Warriors defeated Bendel Insurance 3–0.
After Ikoi Etta opened the scoring in the 16th minute, Obioma doubled the advantage with a well-taken header eight minutes later. He completed his brace in the 40th minute after dribbling his way into the box before calmly slotting the ball home.
Obioma previously made history with Abia Warriors in 2025 when he scored the club’s first-ever CAF Confederation Cup goal against Djoliba Athletic Club of Mali. He was also named League Bloggers Award Player of the Season in 2023 during his time with Enyimba before joining Abia Warriors.
Aderemi Adeoye — Midfielder, Ikorodu City
Aderemi Adeoye produced a moment of individual brilliance to give Ikorodu City an early lead against defending champions Rangers International.
Adeoye’s expertly struck free-kick in the eighth minute set the tone for Ikorodu City, who eventually secured a memorable 2–0 victory over Rangers in Lagos.
His impressive display adds to his growing profile, with Adeoye having earned inclusion in the Super Eagles squad for the international fixture against Russia.
Dede Dare — Goalkeeper, Enyimba FC
Dede Dare was instrumental in helping Enyimba secure their first point of the NPFL season in a difficult away encounter against Kano Pillars.
The Enyimba goalkeeper produced a commanding display as the People’s Elephant held Pillars to a 0–0 draw at the Sani Abacha Stadium, providing the defensive foundation needed to secure a valuable point.
Michael Atata — Goalkeeper, Ikorodu City
Michael Atata delivered another impressive performance between the posts for Ikorodu City, keeping a clean sheet against defending champions Rangers International.
His contribution was crucial as the Oga Boys secured their first-ever NPFL victory over the Flying Antelopes, completing a memorable 2–0 triumph.
Harrison Ebah — Defender, Nasarawa United
Harrison Ebah completed a remarkable seven-day redemption story by moving from an unfortunate own goal to match-winner and Man of the Match.
The Nasarawa United defender scored the decisive goal as the Solid Miners defeated Niger Tornadoes 1–0 at the Lafia City Stadium.
Ebah had endured a difficult outing the previous week when his own goal contributed to Nasarawa United’s 1–1 home draw against Rivers United.
Seven days later, he turned the narrative around spectacularly. With the North Central derby finely balanced, Ebah struck in the 20th minute after a partially cleared set-piece fell to him around 35 yards from goal. The central defender unleashed a stunning long-range effort that flew beyond Niger Tornadoes goalkeeper Jerry Isaac and into the net.
His match-winning contribution capped one of the most compelling individual turnarounds of Matchday 6.

The Lagos-based club announced the appointment on its official social media page, welcoming Olutayo to the role as they prepare for their next fixture in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
“We are pleased to announce Coach Olusanjo Olutayo as our interim Head Coach. Welcome on board!” the club stated.
Sports247 had earlier reported Giwa’s departure from the club on Tuesday, October 13, after he stepped down from his position as head coach.
Giwa was instrumental in Inter Lagos’ promotion from the Nigeria National League (NNL) to the NPFL, marking a significant milestone in the club’s history.
However, the newly promoted side have struggled to make an impact in the top flight this season, with their opening eight league matches producing no victories.
Their latest setback was a 3-1 defeat away to Warri Wolves on Sunday, October 11, leaving them with just two points from eight matches.
Olutayo’s appointment now gives Inter Lagos a new coaching direction as they seek to improve their performances and turn their fortunes around in the league.
The interim coach will face the immediate task of preparing the team for their next NPFL encounter against Nasarawa United on Sunday, October 18.
The match presents an opportunity for Inter Lagos to begin a new chapter under their interim manager as they continue their search for a first league victory of the 2026/27 campaign.
The club has not yet announced whether Olutayo’s appointment will become permanent or how long he is expected to remain in charge.

EuroMatch NPFL: Buter Set for Jos Reunion with Former Colleague as Sporting Lagos Face Plateau United
Sporting Lagos coach Jeffrey Buter will reunite with former coaching colleague Shola Adegun when his side travel to Jos to face Plateau United in their Matchday Nine Nigeria Premier Football League fixture on Sunday, October 18.
The match at the New Jos Stadium, scheduled for 4 p.m. Nigerian time, presents Buter with a reunion away from the touchline as Sporting Lagos look to build on their latest league victory.

Buter revealed that he shares a friendship and professional history with Adegun, who is now part of Plateau United’s technical setup.
While the reunion adds a personal dimension to the fixture, the immediate priority for both sides will be the contest on the pitch.
Sporting Lagos arrive in Jos after a 2–1 comeback victory over Bendel Insurance. They recovered from conceding inside the opening 18 seconds, with Victor Samuel equalising before Gafar Olaniyan scored the winner.
The result gave Sporting Lagos three points and offered encouragement ahead of their next assignment.
Plateau United, meanwhile, will also approach the match with confidence after defeating Kano Pillars 4–0 in their previous league outing. The result underlines the challenge awaiting the visitors, who must be prepared for a home side coming off an emphatic win.

Buter has also welcomed Odinaka Okoro’s return to the squad after a period out, while praising Samuel for his contribution against Bendel Insurance. Both developments could be important as Sporting Lagos seek to maintain their momentum.
For Buter and Adegun, Sunday’s fixture brings former colleagues together on opposite sides of the technical area. Once the match begins, however, the focus will shift to the points at stake and which team can execute its plans more effectively.
Sporting Lagos will be hoping their comeback victory proves to be a foundation for another strong performance, while Plateau United will look to make home advantage count.

EuroMatch NPFL: Sporting Lagos, Bendel Insurance Set for Sunday Battle
Sporting Lagos will aim to end their run of consecutive draws when they host Bendel Insurance at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, on Sunday in Matchday 8 of the 2026/27 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.
The match, scheduled for 4:00 p.m., presents a fresh challenge for Sporting Lagos as they look to turn their recent performances into maximum points in front of their home supporters.

The Lagos-based side have drawn their last two league matches, playing out a goalless result against Ikorodu City before securing a 1–1 draw against Kano Pillars in Katsina.
Against Kano Pillars, Sporting Lagos took the lead through Valentine Ugwu in first-half stoppage time, but Abdullahi Musa restored parity shortly after the restart.
Although the result earned them a point away from home, Sporting Lagos will know that another draw would leave them still searching for a return to winning ways.
Their next opponents, however, arrive with confidence after Bendel Insurance recorded an emphatic 4–1 victory over Barau FC in their previous league outing.
Kayode Oke scored twice in that encounter, while Suraju Lawal and Jonathan James also got on the scoresheet to complete the win for the Benin-based side.
That attacking display will give Bendel Insurance encouragement ahead of their trip to Lagos, although repeating the performance against Sporting Lagos will require another disciplined effort.
For the hosts, keeping Bendel Insurance’s attacking players under control while making better use of their own opportunities could prove crucial to the outcome.
Playing at home also gives Sporting Lagos an opportunity to respond positively in front of their supporters. However, they will need to be more decisive in the final third if they are to turn their recent draws into three points.
Bendel Insurance, meanwhile, will look to build on their victory over Barau FC and carry that momentum into Sunday’s encounter.
With Sporting Lagos seeking a return to winning ways and Bendel Insurance aiming to maintain their positive form, the meeting presents an important test for both sides as the NPFL campaign progresses.
