Super Falcons recall Gift Monday for WAFCON warm-ups
Super Falcons have recalled USA-based forward Gift Monday for 2026 WAFCON warm-up friendlies against Cameroon after she was controversially left out of the team for several months.
Coach Justine Madugu has also listed several uncapped players like England-based goalkeeper Comfort Erhabor and Tanzania-based midfielder Precious Christopher.
Captain Rasheedat Ajibade, goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie and forwards Esther Okoronkwo and Chinwendu Ihezuo also made the 25-player Super Falcons roster for the upcoming friendly matches against the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon in Yaounde.
The first match against the Lionesses will hold on Saturday, 28th February, with the second coming up on Tuesday, 3rd March.
The final tournament of the 13th Women Africa Cup of Nations has been confirmed for the Kingdom of Morocco for the period 17th March – 3rd April, with all four semi-finalists qualifying directly to next year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup finals in Brazil.

Galatasaray President: We didn’t buy Osimhen to sell him
Galatasaray President has made it clear they do not plan to sell Victor Osimhen even if a club came up with the right price for the star striker.
Galatasaray President Dursun Ozbek told Fotomac that the Turkish champions hope to keep the Super Eagles striker for “many years” despite rife speculations he could make a major transfer this summer.
Fotomac: If a €150 million offer comes in for Victor Osimhen, would you be open to negotiations?
Galatasaray President: We didn’t buy Osimhen to sell him! He’s a player who adds great value to Galatasaray and loves Galatasaray very much. We want him to serve Galatasaray for many years to come. Osimhen is also very happy at Galatasaray.

Lucky Ezeh targets success at new Czech club
Lucky Ezeh has said he hopes for success at new Czech club Zbrojovka Brno.
The 22-year-old forward has moved from Karvina, where he scored nine goals in 34 appearances last season.
“The move to Zbrojovka is a big step for my career,” Ezeh said.
“During my talks with the club’s representatives, I got the impression that a very interesting project is being created in Brno and that Zbrojovka is strengthening on all fronts.
“I am pleased to be part of a team full of great football players and to work under the leadership of excellent coaches. I believe that together we will achieve great success.”
Zbrojovka sports director Martin Jiranek said Ezeh will be a great addition.
“He is a striker with great potential who has experience from the first league,” he remarked.
“He is hardworking, honest in his approach to training and matches and has the potential for further performance growth. We expect him to increase the competition in the offensive.”

English club release Super Eagles midfielder
English Championship side Southampton have announced that Super Eagles midfielder Joe Aribo has been released at the expiry of his contract.
Aribo, 29, has endured four rather difficult years at ‘The Saints’ after he joined up from Scottish giants Rangers in 2022.
Last winter, he played on loan at Leicester City in search of more regular first-team football.
He can now join another club as a free agent.
