FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup Qualifiers: Uganda ejects Zambia to reach final qualification round

Uganda U20 Women’s National Team has on Saturday secured a slot into the fourth and final qualification round after overcoming Zambia.

The Queen Cranes secured a 1-0 win in the return leg played at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium to advance to the next round.

Mary Katono scored the lone goal in the seventh minute and this turned out to be decisive moment of the game.

Uganda therefore, progressed 2-1 on aggregate, following a one-all draw in the first leg played last week at FUFA Stadium, Kadiba.

The Queen Cranes will now face Ghana who eliminated South Africa 3-2 on aggregate. The first leg ended in Accra ended in a two-all draw but today’s return leg saw Ghana secure a 1-0 stoppage time winner.

Africa has four slots at the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup and eight teams will battle for those spots.

Uganda will face Ghana, Benin will take on Ivory Coast, Cameron will play the winner between Kenya and Tanzania while Malawi will face either Nigeria or Senegal.

The final qualification round is slated to take place in May this year.
