Nwadike said the invitation list reflects quality, depth and healthy competition, stressing that friendly matches at this stage are crucial for fine-tuning the team before the tournament proper.

According to her, the Super Falcons coaching crew has an important opportunity to assess players’ readiness, fitness levels and tactical understanding, especially with WAFCON approaching quickly.

She noted that playing against a familiar and competitive opponent like Cameroon will provide a realistic test of the team’s strengths and weaknesses.

“I like the list of players invited for the Cameroon friendly,” Nwadike said. “There is quality in the squad, and these matches are important for the coaches to see who is ready and how prepared the team is for WAFCON.”

The former international added that Cameroon’s physical style and experience make them ideal opposition, as it mirrors the kind of challenges Nigeria is likely to face later in the tournament.

She believes the friendly will help the technical crew make informed decisions on combinations, tactics and player roles.

Nwadike also highlighted the importance of giving players the freedom to express themselves during the friendly, rather than focusing solely on results. She explained that experimentation at this stage is necessary to build cohesion and confidence within the squad.

“Friendly games are not just about winning,” she added. “They are about understanding the team, correcting mistakes and building confidence before the real competition starts.”

She urged Nigerian fans to remain patient and supportive, noting that preparation is a process and not everything will be perfect immediately. According to her, with the right blend of experience and hunger in the squad, the Super Falcons remain well placed to mount a strong title defence at WAFCON.

“If the players stay focused and committed, Nigeria will always be among the favourites,” Nwadike concluded.
