Super Eagles Goalkeeper Amas Obasogie Suspended in Tanzania Over Match-Fixing Allegations
Nigerian goalkeeper Amas Obasogie has been suspended for three months by his Tanzanian club, Singida Black Stars SC, pending an investigation into allegations of match-fixing.

In a statement released on Thursday, the club confirmed that the decision was taken by its Disciplinary Committee following preliminary internal findings related to alleged misconduct.
The suspension, the club said, is intended to allow a comprehensive investigation into the claims without interference.
Singida Black Stars noted that the allegations centre on suspected match manipulation, although no formal charges have been concluded at this stage.
The club stressed that Obasogie remains under investigation and will be afforded the opportunity to respond fully to the allegations in line with its disciplinary procedures.
The development comes shortly after Obasogie featured in a 1–1 league draw against Namungo, where he was named in the matchday squad.
The club also announced a separate three-month suspension for midfielder Khalid Aucho, though his case is reportedly linked to issues of indiscipline and absenteeism, not match-fixing.
Obasogie joined Singida Black Stars in 2025 and has since been a regular first-team player. He is also a member of the Nigeria national team, the Super Eagles, and was part of the squad that won a bronze medal at the Africa Cup of Nations 2025.
Neither the player nor his representatives have issued a public response as of the time of filing this report, while the club says further updates will be communicated at the conclusion of the investigation.

Farioli Explains Limited Minutes for Terem Moffi in Porto Debut
Head coach of FC Porto, Francesco Farioli, has clarified why Nigerian forward Terem Moffi featured only briefly in the club’s Primeira Liga clash against Rio Ave F.C..

Moffi, who completed a move to Porto during the winter transfer window, made his competitive debut for the Dragons in the encounter. However, the striker was introduced late in the match, playing just ten minutes.
Speaking after the game, Farioli explained that the decision was part of a deliberate plan to gradually reintegrate Moffi into full match fitness.
According to the Italian tactician, the brief appearance allowed the forward to make an impact while reducing the risk of overexertion.
Farioli revealed that the club has scheduled a friendly match in which Moffi is expected to play up to 60 minutes, forming part of a structured build-up strategy aimed at restoring his sharpness and endurance.
The Porto coach emphasised that careful management is essential to ensure the Nigerian striker is fully prepared to contribute consistently in the Primeira Liga campaign.
The approach signals the club’s long-term view — prioritising sustained performance over immediate workload as Moffi settles into his new environment.

Alex Iwobi played a decisive role by scoring one and providing assist for another goal to inspire superb second half for Fulham after a tightly contested first half ended goalless.
The breakthrough arrived in the 54th minute when Raúl Jiménez powered home a header from Iwobi’s well-delivered corner to put the visitors ahead.
Fulham quickly built on that momentum, doubling their lead seven minutes later.
Jiménez showed his composure from the spot, converting a penalty after Sunderland were penalised for a foul inside the area.
The home side attempted to spark a revival in the 76th minute when Enzo Le Fée reduced the deficit with a penalty of his own following a challenge by Ryan Sessegnon.
Sunderland briefly sensed an opening, but Fulham remained in control.
Any lingering hopes of a comeback were extinguished five minutes from time as Iwobi capped an outstanding all-round display.
Racing onto a quick counter-attack, Alex Iwobi calmly finished after being teed up by Harry Wilson to seal the points.
The result brought an end to Fulham’s three-game losing streak in the Premier League and moved Marco Silva’s side into the top half of the table.
For Iwobi, the match stood out as a statement performance, combining creativity and composure to underline his growing influence in Fulham’s push for a European place.
