The 2026 Wakiso zone schools sports championship successfully concluded at the Kabaka Kyabaggu stadium found within the WAKISHA Resource center on Tuesday, 14th April 2026.
A mammoth gathering comprising of students, school administrators, teachers, sports enthusiasts, well-wishers and the general public witnessed this climax.

Four football matches were played; two bronze medal duels and two gold medal matches.
The early kick off witnessed Light High School Sseguku win 1-0 over Boston High School Mpala for the bronze.
This was followed by Buddo S.S’ 1-0 triumph over Aidan College Ndejje in the boys’ bronze medal match.






The epic finale, watched by a big cheering crowd had record winners St Mary’s Kitende edge Kyaddondo S.S 2-1.
Jordan Tugume and Dennis Kisiriko were on target for St Mary’s Kitende whilst Rafael Masuudi had the consolation for first time finalists, Kyaddondo S.S with a well struck penalty.
In girls’ football, the final was won by Rines S.S who beat St Noa Zana 3-1 in post match penalties after a 1-all draw in normal time.

Other sports disciplines:
In the other sports disciplines played, Mbogo Mixed won Table Tennis for either gender.
For Volleyball, Kinawa High Basketball 5×5 was won by Buddo SS and St Noa Girls Zana in the boys and girls gender respectively.
3×3 version of Basketball had Mbogo Mixed as boys’ champions and St Mary’s Kitende won for the girls.
Kinawa High School won boys’ Badminton gold and St Michael International took the girls’ gold.
School won gold for girls ahead of Trinity College Nabbingo (silver) and Wampeewo Ntake (bronze).
In Lawn Tennis, St Mary’s Kitende emerged the boys’ champions as Gayaza High School took gold for the girls.
Kings College Budo won gold for Hockey.
Wakiso District Education Officer was the chief guest, flanked by the chairperson of Wakiso schools association and a number of head teachers for the different schools.

“The 2026 Wakiso zone schools sports championship was a success with the different schools taking part in the indoor and outdoor sports disciplines. The level of competition was top notch and I commend the different schools for preparing their teams well.” Gerald Katamba, chairperson hinted.
The excelling schools will represent Wakiso Zone in the nationals. USSSA Ball Games 1 (Girls football, Basketball, Table Tennis and Badminton) will be hosted at Seroma Christian School.
The USSSA U-20 boys’ football will happen in Lira.

Double success for Divine Mercy SS in 2026 Kabarole District football USSSA Championships

2026 USSSA Kabarole District Football Championships:
Finals:
- Boys: Divine Mercy Secondary School 2-0 Peas Kicwamba
- Girls: Divine Mercy Secondary School 2(4) -2(2) Peas Kicwamba
Divine Mercy Secondary School won both the boys and girls’ football trophies as the 2026 Kabarole district USSSA football championship climaxed at the Kicwamba playgrounds.
In the boy’s category, Divine Mercy SS which is located in Kiko Town Council (along Kamwenge road) overcame Peas Kicwamba 2-0 during the final.

It took a tense 4-2 post match penalty victory as Divine Mercy SS over the same opposition in the girls’ final after a 2-all draw in normal time.
Rev Father Christopher Bacwa Mukidi, the director of Divine Mercy Secondary School was full of praise for the achievement attained as they continue to deliver the best education services and promotion of talents for the young generation.

Now, focus turns to the Rwenzori region championships that will be hosted by Rubona S.S in Bunyangabu District.

2026 Mukono District USSSA Football Championship reaches exciting round of 16 stage

It is a squeaky-bum-time in Mukono as the 2026 district USSSA football games have now progressed to the round of 16 stage in boy’s football.
The successful 16 schools have been divided into four groups of four teams each with the best 8 progressing to the quarterfinals.
The round of 16 matches will be played this Saturday, 21st March 2026 at four different venues.
Group A will be housed at St Andrew’s Ndwaddemutwe that also has Dynamic SS, Seroma Christian School and Mt. St Henry’s High School.
Group B has St Peter’s Mixed Mukono, Namilyango College, Mukono Kings High School and the host school, Kasawo SS.
In Group C; there will be Mukono Islamic School, Latifah Mixed SS (Hosts), Kasawo Islamic School and Merry Hill Christian High School.
Kasana Vocational will host group D with the likes of Nakanyonyi Secondary School, Vision for Africa Nakifuma and Central College Kabimbiri.
After the round of 16, quarter-finals will be ushered in, then semi-finals and eventually finals to determine the winner.
All the semi-finalists will represent Mukono district at the zonal level where schools from Buikwe, Kayunga, Kangulumira and Lugazi will also come together.
This year’s finals will be hosted in Northern Uganda (Lira).
