2026 USSSA Ball Games II: Five sports disciplines to be demonstrated in Gulu city

The Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) Ball Games II will take center stage between the 8th to 17th July 2026 in Gulu city, Northern Uganda.

These games will be hosted by Sacred Heart Secondary School for the U-14, U-17 and U-20 age categories.

There will be five sports disciplines that will be on demonstration show for both boys and girls to include Golf, Kabaddi, Kho Kho, Pickleball and Darts, according to the USSSA competitions director Emmanuel Kasakya.

Main menu:

The main cluster of games has U-14 CAF football, U-17 football and U-17 basketball. The others entail U-20 basketball (3X3 version), DanceSport (U-20), Woodball (U-20), Beach Soccer (U-20), Beach Volleyball (U-20), Lacrosse (U-20), Chess (U-20), Ludo (U-20), Scrabble (U-20), Volleyball (U-20), Netball (U-20), Cricket (U-20), Handball (U-20), Rugby 7’s (U-20), Futsal (U-20), Baseball, Softball and Baseball 5 (U-20) as well as Athletics & Cross Country (U-20).

Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) in conjunction with the various sports federations and associations join hands together to host successful games.

A number of sports venues in and around Gulu city will be used as confirmed in the coming weeks.

The top performers from each discipline will qualify to represent Uganda at the 2026 FEASSA Games due to be hosted in Morogoro city, Tanzania.

Last year, the USSSA Ball Games II were hosted in Tororo municipality.

Excitement, wild smiles, tears, pain and agony defined the mood at Dr Obote College playground in Lira as Amus College ejected St Mary’s Kitende at the semi-final level of the 2026 Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) Boys’ football in Lira city, Northern Uganda.

Amus College School completed the tense game a man less following a sending off for Pius Oyirwoth after a second bookable offence.

Normal time of this end-to-end contest ended goal-less with penalties called to decide the outcome of the game.

Mathias Kasadha, Ivan Okello, Roy Olara and captain Iddi Abdul Rashid were on target for Amus College School.

St Mary’s Kitende scored their only kick through Moses Kalule as Marvin Kabiito placed his shot off the lower post and out of the goal frame.

The other semi-final at Lira Town College witnessed Bukedea Comprehensive School South pip Kyadondo S.S 1-0 courtesy of Patrick Ssenkusu’s 55th minute goal.

Now Tuesday’s final shall have Amus College School and Bukedea Comprehensive School South.

The bronze medal match has St Mary’s Kitende against Kyadondo SS Matugga in the all Wakiso region affair.

USSSA unveiled a brand-new trophy that will be handed over to the new champion in waiting on Tuesday, 19th May 2026.

The championship attracted as many as 64 schools from the different corners of the country.

Ijosiga fires Amus College past London College Nansana to storm semifinal | 2026 USSSA Boys’ Football

Amus College School joined Kyadondo S.S. in the semifinals of the ongoing USSSA Boys’ Football Championship in Lira city, Northern Uganda.

Hardworking forward Mudasir Ijosiga struck home the only goal in the mid-morning duel played at the Lira Town College playground on Sunday, 17th May 2026.

Ijosiga was well positioned to tap home from close range past goalkeeper Brian Ssentabadde off an inviting laid ball from the left flank by Ivan Okello.

As Amus College pushed for a killer, London College sought the equaliser, but all the options did not yield any fruit.

The Bukedea District-based school has now joined Kyadondo S.S, who booked their berth in the last four stage at the expense of the 2025 champions Buddo S.S.

Kyadondo S.S beat Buddo S.S 1-0 courtesy of midfielder Bashir Edema’s penalty two minutes past the half-hour mark.

Kyadondo’s talismanic winger, Rafael Masuudi, posed all sorts of provocations to the Buddo defence that had Tom Ssasazi, skipper Dickson Barasa and Ronald Mukisa Ssegirinya.

“This is a great achievement for the school. We have planned well since the holidays, and the FEASSA qualification is a big reward. I salute the players, coaching staff and the school management,” Hakim Ssenkumba remarked after the game.

Last two Quarterfinal matches:

A slippery ground at Lira Town College for the remaining two quarterfinal matches on Sunday afternoon after heavy rains.

Bukedea Comprehensive School (South) tussles Masaka S.S at 2 PM, with the last contest between Masaaka city’s NUMASA S.S and the tournament record winners St Mary’s Kitende at 4 PM.

A new trophy was officially unveiled on Thursday, 14th May 2026 and will be handed over to the champions after the final this coming Tuesday.

Kyadondo S.S football team qualifies for maiden FEASSA Games

For the first ever in the history of Kyadondo Secondary School, the Matugga based institution has made the grade to the treasured FEASSA Games.

The feat was confirmed on Sunday, 17th May 2026 after the hard-fought 1-0 quarter final victory over Buddo S.S at the Lira Town College playground.

Midfielder Bashir Edema composed himself to shoot past goalkeeper Edrisa Waibi in the 32nd minute from 12 yards via a penalty shot.

Waibi had fouled industrious forward Jude Joseph Kakooza in the forbidden area.

Kyadondo SS defended gallantly for the rest of the game; shielding off threat from Buddo’s trio of Akram Musiitwa, Ambrose Aboy and Ali Abaasa Kisambira.

Towards the climax of the match, Kyadondo’s talismanic winger Rafael Masuudi posed all sorts of provocations to the Buddo defence that had Tom Ssasazi, skipper Dickson Barasa and Ronald Mukisa Ssegirinya.

A new trophy was officially unveiled on Thursday, 14th May 2026 and will be handed over to the champions after the final this coming Tuesday.
