SIBOL MLBB outlast Vietnam, Myanmar, Indonesia to clinch Asian Games berth
SENTOSA, Singapore – SIBOL’s Mobile Legends: Bang Bang team punched its ticket to the 2026 Asian Games main stage after sweeping its Day 3 assignments, capped by a crucial victory over regional powerhouse Indonesia on Saturday at the Resorts World Sentosa Convention Centre here.
The triumph completed a perfect day for the Filipinos, who earlier dispatched Myanmar and Vietnam to improve to 5-1 and formally secure one of Southeast Asia’s coveted berths to the continental meet in Nagoya later this year.
Head coach Allec Alvarado said the team’s quick adaptation to the new patch played a key role in its successful campaign, which culminated in qualification to the Asian Games after the sweep of Indonesia.
“Feeling malaking bagay sa amin na hindi pa rin sanay ang mga teams sa meta ngayon dahil sa bagong update. Masaya ako na nakakasok kami sa Asian Games at nasweep namin yung Indonesia,” he said.
The Karl Nepomuceno-led squad opened Day 3 of the group stage with a convincing Game 1 victory, taking full control after Dave Viana Jr. (Karrie) unleashed a triple kill in the 14th minute to headline a decisive 5-for-2 wipeout that swung momentum firmly in the Philippines’ favor for the rest of the game.
Game 2 was a lopsided affair for the Filipinos, as they built a commanding 11,100 gold lead before sealing a 17-minute win behind Jaypee Dela Cruz’s flawless 1-0-14 KDA.
SIBOL were briefly pushed to the limit after Vietnam leveled the series at 1-1, following a dominant performance in Game 2.
With their backs against the wall, the Philippine representatives leaned on Cruz’s Mathilda in the decider, where he delivered a 1-0-17 KDA to spark a 20-4 kill advantage and clinch SIBOL’s second victory of the day.
SIBOL carried that momentum into their match against Indonesia, where they set the tone early in Game 1.
Alston Pabico’s double kill on Pharsa during the seventh-minute Turtle fight helped establish a 6,500 gold lead that they never relinquished.
With qualification secured, SIBOL can now shift its focus to fine-tuning preparations for the Asian Games, where the Philippines will aim to add another international medal to its Mobile Legends: Bang Bang legacy.

SIBOL HOK secure second seed, advance to Asian Games despite loss to Indonesia
PETALING JAYA, Malaysia — SIBOL’s Honor of Kings team closed out the group stage with a 0-2 loss to regional rival Indonesia on Friday, but still secured a second-place finish and a berth in the main stage of the Asian Games at the Petaling Jaya Marriott Hotel.
The defeat dropped the Filipinos to a 3-1 record in Group A. Still, it was enough to qualify alongside Indonesia for the continental showpiece in Nagoya later this year.
Despite the loss, head coach Gerald Gelacio viewed the setback as a valuable learning experience ahead of the tougher challenges awaiting the team at the Asian Games.
“For this result versus Indonesia, siguro bumaba nang kaunti ang confidence namin. What I mean is hindi namin nalaro nang maayos ang team composition namin,” said Gelacio.
“Magandang lesson ito para sa amin going to the main event ng Asian Games, kasi doon namin makikita ang mas malalakas pang teams. Kaya mas kailangan naming maghanda. Luckily, marami pa kaming oras para maayos ang mga problema namin as a team,” he added.
SIBOL kept Game 1 competitive early on but surrendered the 12th-minute Shadow Overlord, allowing Indonesia to gradually take control of the map. Indonesia eventually built a 4,200-gold lead late in the 15th minute after destroying all of the Filipinos’ high-ground towers.
The Indonesians put the game away in the 17th minute as Agung Prasetyo delivered a Triple Strike while Emanuel Paska added a Double Strike to complete a 5-for-0 Ace, setting up the game-winning push.
Game 2 followed a similar script, with the Filipinos falling behind by as much as 9,000 gold after Indonesia raced to a commanding 9-1 kill advantage.
SIBOL showed signs of a comeback when Golden Dajao secured two kills during a 10th-minute base defense, helping force a 3-for-1 trade.
However, Indonesia’s Neville Garrick extinguished any hopes of a rally in the 11th minute. The team unleashed a Triple Strike during a Shadow Vanguard clash that resulted in a series-clinching 5-for-0 Ace.
Despite the setback, SIBOL accomplished its primary objective of qualifying for the Asian Games, advancing to the main stage as the No. 2 seed from Group A.
