NBL Finals: Nam Blazers level series in a nail-biter

Namuwongo Blazers levelled the series (2-2) after a hard-fought 74-70 against City Oilers in game four of the NBL Final at Lugogo Indoor Arena on Friday evening.

The Blazers came into this game having gone a game down, needing a big response that was witnessed by a fully packed Lugogo Indoor Arena.

The Blazers came out of their blocks early, commanding a 10-point (23-13) lead at the end of the opening quarter.

The Oilers struggled to beat the Blazers’ zonal marking as they went into the long break trailing by six points (32-38).

Coming from the long break, the Oilers made a positive stride, rotating the ball across as they reduced their deficit to one point (5before the final frame.

With 4:50 minutes on the clock, Joel Lukoji’s jump shot tied the game 64-64. From that point it was a seesaw affair as both sides went toe to toe.

The game witnessed a dramatic end as Tonny Drileba made one of the two free throws, giving the Blazers a three-point (72-69) lead with 19 seconds on the clock.

Tony Drileba fouled Patrick Rembert, sending the guard to the line, but he only converted one of the two before Anthony Chukwurah picked up the big rebound.

Jimmy Enabu put the icing on the cake with an easy layup to reclaim the Blazers’ four-point (74-70) lead this sealing a victory.

Anthony Chukwurah recorded a double-double, netting 15 points and pulling down 11 rebounds.

Jimmy Enabu (15 points) and James Okello (12 points) contributed in double digits for Blazers.

Patrick Rembert (19 points), Fayed Bale (11 points) and Joel Lukoji (11 points) scored double digits for the City Oilers.
