Ghana suffered a damaging defeat to The Gambia as the two teams faced off at Accra Stadium in the 2027 AFCON qualifiers on Tuesday.

Despite leading 2-0 by the 35th minute mark, the Blacks Stars squandered that advantage, allowing The Gambia to stage a massive comeback and eventually win the game 4-2.

Ernest Nuamah had given Ghana the lead from the spot in the 27th minute before Felix Afena-Gyan doubled the advantage six minutes later.

However, the visitors got back into the game, first through Muhammed Badamosi who converted a penalty in the 37th minute before Omar Colley levelled matters five minutes later and the game went into the break at 2-2.

After the break, The Gambia were the better side with Ebrima Colley bagging a second half brace.

The Gambia now lead Group C on six points from two matches following their opening 2-1 win over Somalia, while Ghana have suffered back-to-back defeats after losing 2-0 away to Côte d’Ivoire in their first fixture.
