Guinea secured their first win of the 2027 AFCON qualification campaign after defeating Kenya 1-0 on Thursday in Conakry.

The Syli National had to dig deep to overcome Kenya’s Harambee Stars at the 28 September Stadium courtesy of Serhou Guirassy’s goal.

The giant forward struck home in the 32nd minute, and this eventually turned out to be the decisive moment of the closely contested affair.

Victory means Guinea ends Matchday Two in second place with 3 points, three behind South Africa, who beat them 2-1 in the first game.

Kenya and Eritrea are all tied at one point apiece in Group D, where only one team will join co-hosts Kenya in qualifying for next year’s tournament.
