Kaye Furo still waiting for Premier League action
The son of former Super Eagles star Furo Iyenemi, Kaye Furo, has yet to see action in the Premier League since his sensational transfer to Brentford with some now questioning the wisdom of his quitting Belgian team Club Brugge.
The 18-year-old striker has been named on the Brentford matchday squad thrice, but with the red-hot form of the Brazilian Igor Thiago he would have to wait for some time to taste action in the Premier League.
However, Brentford sports director Phil Giles said his chance will come.
“Physically, he’s a big guy, and that’s a good starting point to compete in the Premier League,” Giles remarked.
“He’s also quick, he moves well, and he has a good work ethic. These are all qualities we look for in a striker and to play in the Premier League. We’re very excited about him and we think he can make an impact both in the short and long term. He still needs to develop.”
He added: “And we’re behind him. We’re going to work together.
“Who knows how long it will take him to get there – it might be next week, but it could also take a bit longer.”
Brentford boss Keith Andrews also expressed his confidence Furo Junior will finally come through.
“I have no doubt he’ll be a key player for us,” he stated.
