Wilfred Bony Praises Osimhen’s Quality, Says AFCON Remains His Biggest Test
Former Ivory Coast international Wilfred Bony has admitted he is a big admirer of Victor Osimhen, describing the Nigerian striker as one of Africa’s finest forwards of his generation.

Bony, however, noted that Osimhen still faces a unique challenge when it comes to fully translating his club form to the African stage, particularly at major international tournaments.
“Osimhen is a top striker, there’s no doubt about his quality,” Bony said. “What he does in Europe shows his level, but African football is different and demands more consistency in big tournaments.”
The former Manchester City striker added that expectations around Osimhen have increased following his move to Galatasaray, where he is expected to play a leading role both domestically and in Europe.
“Now that he’s at Galatasaray, the spotlight will be even bigger,” Bony explained. “He has the personality and ability to handle it, but AFCON and international football bring their own pressure.”
Bony concluded by backing Osimhen to keep improving with experience.
“With time, he will dominate Africa the same way he dominates in Europe,” he said.
