NPFL Matchday 27: Plateau United Thrash Shooting Stars as Remo Stars Sink to Bottom
Plateau United delivered a commanding performance on Sunday to headline the conclusion of Matchday 27 in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), while Remo Stars dropped to the foot of the table following a mixed round of results across the country.

At the New Jos Stadium, Plateau United overwhelmed Shooting Stars 4–1 in a dominant display.
Tarabina Biweribo (14’) and Harrison Ebah (25’) put the hosts in control early before Vincent Temitope converted from the spot in the 55th minute. Alao Danbani added a fourth on 65 minutes, with Qamar Adegoke’s 12th-minute strike proving a mere consolation for the visitors.
In Ilorin, Kun Khalifat continued their strong home form with a 2–0 victory over Niger Tornadoes.
Adamu Mohammed opened the scoring in the 26th minute before Oghenetega Ebetomame struck deep into first-half stoppage time.
At the Lafia City Stadium, Nasarawa United edged Bendel Insurance 1–0 thanks to John Joshua’s 41st-minute winner, while Abia Warriors also claimed a narrow 1–0 home win over Kwara United, with Casmir Azubuike scoring the decisive goal in the 29th minute.
At the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano Pillars cruised past El-Kanemi Warriors 3–0.
Veteran captain Rabiu Ali struck early in the 13th minute before goals from Luis Dadong (43’) and Chiedozie Okorie (52’) sealed the emphatic win.
In Port Harcourt, honours were shared as Rivers United played out a 1–1 draw with Enyimba.
Abiodun Joseph gave Enyimba the lead on 28 minutes, but Aniekeme Okon restored parity for the hosts shortly before the break.
Elsewhere, Katsina United and Enugu Rangers settled for a goalless draw, while league leaders Ikorodu City were held 1–1 by Bayelsa United.
Olanrewaju Molade put Ikorodu City ahead in the 64th minute before Ettah Ikoi equalised for Bayelsa United in the 35th.
The results had significant implications at both ends of the table. Plateau United’s emphatic win lifted them into the top half, while Shooting Stars slipped further down the standings.
At the bottom, Remo Stars dropped to 20th place on 27 points after Matchday 27, intensifying the relegation battle as the season enters a decisive phase.
