UCU Lady Canons secure a well-deserved 51-34 victory against KCCA Leopards in the National Basketball League encounter at Abja Park on Friday.

The Lady Canons secured the third victory in as many games to keep the winning streak alive and going.

Sylivia Nakituka’s back-to-back 3-point jump shots opened a 6-0 run before Tracy Namugosa responded with a driving layup. Leopards were limited to only seven points as they opened an eight-point (15-7) lead at the end of the opening stanza.

It was a close second stanza as the Leopards were the better side, 11-10. Matrina Anyango capped the second period with a layup as the Lady Canons took a seven-point lead into the halftime break.

After the long break, it was a low-scoring quarter as the Lady Canons won the period 8-5. Following this physical segment, the Lady Canons held a 10-point lead, 33-23, heading into the final quarter.

In the final period, the Lady Canons kept the foot on the gas pedal as they took home a victory of 17 points.

Sylivia Nakituuka (14 points), Sylivia Nantongo (14 points) and Shillah Lamunu (11 points) led the Lady Canons scoring in double digits.

On the other hand, Margaret Bagaala dropped 17 points while Asinah Kabendera pulled down 12 rebounds for KCCA Leopards.
