About the Mbarara City Marathon:

The second edition of the Mbarara City Marathon is not just about running — it is about responsibility, inclusion, and building a smarter, cleaner city.

The Mbarara City Marathon is intentionally supporting women who sell goods along the roadside by engaging them in the vision of a smart and clean Mbarara City.

Tourism:

A clean city attracts tourism. A smart city supports its people. This edition of the Marathon aligns with that mission — creating awareness about sanitation, proper waste disposal, and organized trading spaces while increasing customer traffic and visibility for these women entrepreneurs.

When runners, visitors, and partners come to Mbarara, they will not only experience a world-class race but also witness a city that values dignity in trade, cleanliness in operation, and empowerment of women at the grassroots level.

That is the spirit of this year’s marathon — running for health, running for empowerment, and running for a smart and clean Mbarara.
