NPFL ROUNDUP: Enugu Rangers back on top of table
Enugu Rangers returned to the summit of the NPFL standings today despite being held to a goalless draw at home by Barau FC.
This was after closest rivals Rivers United fell 2-0 at Warri Wolves.
Rangers thus reclaimed top spot by virtue of a better goals difference as both teams have recorded 55 points from 33 matches.
Rangers have a +15 goals difference, which is better than the +6 of Rivers United.
The biggest shock of the weekend was at front runners Nasarawa United, who fell 1-0 at home to bottom team Kun Khalifat with Stanley Otu snatching the winning goal deep into stoppage time.
This result will make the battle for survival even more interesting with five rounds of matches to the end of the season.
Remo Stars achieved an important 1-0 home win over Shooting Stars in the Southwest Derby to climb to 17th place with 40 points.
Remo Stars match winner was Samuel Anakwe in the 49th minute.
There were also big home wins for both Kano Pillars and Kwara United.
Kano Pillars spanked Bendel Insurance 4-0, while Kwara were 3-0 winners over El Kanemi Warriors.
Katsina United stopped Niger Tornadoes courtesy of a 65th minute goal by Elijah Akanni.
Two matches left in the Round of 33 will be played tomorrow – Abia Warriors home to Bayelsa United and Plateau United up against third-placed Ikorodu City at home.
