President’s Cup 2026 (Round one):

Men:

T1 – Joseph Cwinya-ai – 70

T1 – Joseph Reagan Akena – 70

3 – Yassin Boy – 72

T4 – Elton Thembo – 73

T4 – Joseph Kasozi – 73

With an identical one-under score of 70 gross, Joseph Cwinya-ai and Joseph Reagan Akena took command for the rest of the field during the opening round of the 2026 President’s Cup in Entebbe.

Cwinya-ai, fresh from clinching the Pearl of Africa (POA) Gross cluster trophy, produced 4 birdies, 3 bogies and 11 pars during his round on Thursday, 23rd April 2026.

Akena, on the other hand, had 4 birdies, 12 pars, a bogie and one double bogie on the par 3 hole 16.

Yasin Boyi (72), Elton Thembo (73), Joseph Kasozi (73), Brian Mmande (74), Titus Okwong (74), Ibrahim Bagalana (74, Lawrence Walakira (76) and Abdullah Kakooza (77) complete the top ten positions after round one.

Only the top 16 made it to Round Two, due on Friday, 24th April 2026.

The total kitty for the male players is Shs 10,000,000.

Meanwhile, Peace Kabasweka leads the ladies’ category with 73, four strokes better than Meron Kyomugisha.

Lillian Koowe (78), Harriet Kitaka (79) and Winnie Musuya (79) are all in the top five.

The females’ prize money kitty is Shs 3,000,000.

The tournament is organised by Uganda Golf Union (UGU).
