Super Eagles push for Derby County star to replace Iwobi

Super Eagles are pushing to get Derby County box-to-box midfielder David Ozoh cleared by the England FA for the June friendlies against Poland and Portugal.

Ozoh is now waiting to get an authorisation from the FA in England for him to play for Nigeria after he played five games for that country’s U18 team in 2023.

The matches were all friendlies and so he does not need to get a FIFA clearance.

He is regarded as a direct replacement for injured Alex Iwobi, who recently suffered a hamstring injury while playing for Premier League club Fulham.

Ozoh has shone on a second loan spell at Derby from London club Crystal Palace, two goals in 32 appearances

The 20-year-old player can play either in central midfield or as a defensive midfielder.

Derby are just a point outside the English Championship promotion playoffs bracket with a match to the end of the regular season.
