Manchester United academy graduate Emeran Noam pleased to earn Rwanda national team call up
Manchester United graduate Emeran Noam couldn’t hide his excitement upon being summoned by Rwanda national team head coach Stephen Constantine for national duty.
Emeran who was nurtured at Carlington from 2019 to 2023 is part of the Amavubi team currently holding a training camp in Cairo, Egypt following the abrupt stop to the International Friendlies in Morocco.
“It is with immense pride and great emotions that I join the Rwanda national team,” Emeran, currently playing for Dutch Eredivisie side FC Groningen told The Times of Rwanda.
“Representing my country is a true honour and the beginning of new chapter that will write together with passion, hard work and unity,” he added.
The left footed silky attacking midfielder, now 23 represented France at youth level but had to wait a little longer to accept Amavubi and he explains why.
“I feel happy and proud of it. It took so long because I wanted to be really to come and bring something to the team, you know not just coming because my name is Noam.
“Now that I feel ready that I played some matches on the professional level, I think that was the right time to come. I feel like am at home and that’s really important.”
Emeran began his career with Belgium’s FC Brussels but went through several youth set-ups including Entente SSG, Amiens and then Manchester United in 2019.
He left the Old Trafford club in 2023 and signed a four-year contract with FC Groningen in Netherlands.
His father, Fritz Emeran also represented Rwanda at national level although it is through his mother that he qualifies to play for the Amavubi.
Rwanda will aim to qualify for the 2027 Afcon in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania from Group K that has Mali, Cape Verde and Liberia.
