A few days prior to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the headlines have been grabbed by Somali referee Omar Abdulkadir Artan who has been denied entry into the United States.
The CAF Referee of the Year who had all documents rightly in place has since been put off the list that has 52 match officials from all over the world.
“Fifa can confirm that match official Omar Abdulkadir Artan will be unable to train and officiate at the Fifa World Cup 2026 after he was denied entry into the United States,” read a statement from FIFA.
