Vipers SC outclass Kitara to lift 2026 FUFA Super Cup

Vipers secured a dominant 3-1 victory against Kitara in the 2026 FUFA Super Cup final at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo on Saturday evening.

Vipers SC demonstrated resilience and tactical edge to secure a hard-fought victory, punctuated by a strong performance from the defending league champions.

The match opened with early controversy in the 10th minute when Farouk Miya found the back of the net, only for the goal to be disallowed after Karim Watambala was flagged offside in the build-up.

Vipers narrowly escaped a setback seven minutes later when Ashraf Mandela produced a crucial goal-line clearance to deny teammate Joel Sserujongi an agonising own goal.

Pressure continued to mount, with Princewill Tarabina coming close in the 22nd minute as his header shaved the crossbar following a precise delivery from Miya.

The breakthrough finally arrived in the 32nd minute. Odili Chukwuma broke the deadlock, nodding the ball into the back of the net after being set up by Gusto Mulongo to give his side the lead heading into the break.

The second half brought immediate drama. On the stroke of the hour mark, Martin Kizza levelled matters for the opposition, capitalising on a defensive lapse after Vipers failed to clear their lines from close range.

Vipers responded swiftly. In the 68th minute, Karim Watambala restored the lead with a crisp tap-in, converting a pinpoint pass from Marvin Youngman.

Mulongo then capped off a stellar performance in the 78th minute, putting the icing on the cake with a powerful header off another fine Miya delivery to seal the victory.

The dominant victory was a reality check for the two sides that will represent the nation on the continent.
