Eguavoen ‘arm twisted’ to take over Super Falcons

NFF technical director Austin Eguavoen was “arm twisted” to take over the Super Falcons top coaching post.

Journalist Osasu Obayiuwana reported on X that a well-informed person told him that Eguavoen rejected the Super Falcons post until he was arm twisted to take up.

“@coacheguavoen refused to take the Falcons interim job, when it was offered to him. He said he did not want to be caught up in the current problems of the NFF. He was arm-twisted to take it, for the Comoros game,” the source told me.

Obayiuwana further reported that former Super Falcons coach Randy Waldrum was set to be re-appointed on a five-year contract.

“Having had a conversation with a well-informed person, involved in the ongoing @thenff reform discussions, I understand that @CoachWaldrum was pencilled down to return to the @NGSuper_Falcons job, for a five-year contract. But a Normalisation Committee, which won’t have a term of more than one year, can’t sign any deals beyond their tenure.”
