Sommet Basketball Club collected its second victory of the 2026 National Basketball League.

Sommet BC secured a hard-fought 87-80 victory against UMU Flames in the 2026 NBL encounter at Lugogo Indoor Arena.

Sommet survived Uganda Martyrs University (UMU) Flames’ late charge in the end-to-end encounter.

Ernest Nassasira’s layup concluded the opening stanza as the Nkonzi-based side trailed by eight (23-15) points.

The Flames improved on their ball handling in the second quarter but trailed by nine points (39-30) going into the halftime break.

Coming from the locker rooms, Sommet came out of their blocks early, with Joseph Chuma making a driving layup. They kept the foot on the gas pedal as Sommet opened a 14-point advantage going into the final phase.

With 2 minutes and 26 seconds remaining, the Flames narrowed the deficit to 1 point (75-74) after a 4-0 run; however, their brakes fell off, and they eventually lost by 7 points.

Joseph Chuma had a thrilling show with a double-double scoring 18 points and pulling down 10 rebounds. Peter Cheng (16 points), Emilagba Abolahji (15 points), Nkulu Kaseya (13 points) and John Focus Teko (10 points) joined the double-digit column.

On the other hand, Gatwech Koang Wankoak (22 points), Agot Agot (16) and Joshua Duallo (14 points) scored in double digits for the Flames.
