The Super Eagles were tonight held to a 2-2 draw by World Cup debutants Jordan in a friendly played in Turkey.

In the earlier game of this four-nation tournament, Iran trounced Costa Rica 5-0.

The spirited Jordanians took the lead against the run of play in the 17th minute courtesy of Mousa Altamari, whose free kick from distance beat Francis Uzoho in goal for Nigeria.

An effort by Nigeria soon after was ruled out by the referee, before stand-in captain Moses Simon restored parity on 24 minutes.

The Super Eagles then went in front in the 41st minute, when an unmarked central defender Emmanuel Fernandez justified his first start with a coolly taken goal.

In the second half, Nigeria pressed on for more goals with Frank Onyeka and Fernandez coming close to increasing the lead.

In the 58th minute, goalkeeper Uzoho was replaced by Adebayo Adeleye after he suffered an injury that forced him out of the contest.

Captain Wilfred Ndidi and Alex Iwobi came on to stablise the Super Eagles midfield.

Adeleye made a point-blank save in the 74th minute, when he made himself big against the Jordanian striker to only concede a corner.

However, three minutes later Jordan drew level with a great team goal.

It was a fitting reward for their attacking appetite as they kept chasing the game in the second half.

In the 78th minute, Iwobi missed a good chance after he was set up by Jerome Akor.

In the closing moments of the encounter, the Fulham star was sent off after a scuffle involving both teams.

Super Eagles Starting XI vs Jordan: Uzoho (Adeleye 58) – Zaidu, Osayi-Samuel, Ogbu, Fernandez – Onyedika (Iwobi 59), Onyeka,(Otele 80) Moses Simon (Chukwueze 80), Yira Sor (Ndidi 59) – Akor, Lookman
