Falconets march on to 2026 U20 World Cup
Today, the Falconets qualified for the 2026 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup despite losing 2-1 to hosts Malawi in the return leg of the final playoffs.
The Falconets thus went through 3-2 on aggregate after they won the first leg in Ikenne a week ago.
Home team Malawi wiped out the two-goal deficit from the Nigerian loss after 56 minutes with a brace by Faith Chimzimu.
However, the Nigerian girls pulled a goal back on 62 minutes courtesy of Precious Oscar, which proved to be the decisive goal.
This year’s U20 Women’s World Cup will be hosted by Poland in September.
