Sports247 reports that this positive declaration was made by the country’s National Sports Commission (NSC) at the start of an inspection tour of facilities across Lagos State, in an exercise that began on Tuesday and will extend up till Thursday.
A press release from the NSC’s media unit revealed that, during the inspection tour, which is already ongoing, officials of the commission will undertake a comprehensive inspection of proposed venues and participate in high-level consultative meetings.
The visit is also expected to boost collaborations between the NSC and Lagos State Sports Commission, while assessing the level of readiness of facilities and ensure that all requirements for a smooth competition are in place ahead of the Games.
The statement added, “During the three-day exercise, officials of the National Sports Commission and Main Organising Committee (MOC) will inspect venues, ancillary facilities, athlete accommodation centres and other key infrastructure.
“The inspection visit will provide opportunity for strategic consultations between the NSC, the Main Organising Committee and the Lagos State Sports Commission, with discussions expected to focus on venue preparedness.
“The delegation will also engage officials of the Local Organising Committee and other stakeholders on technical, logistical and administrative matters, (including) athlete welfare, security arrangements, transportation and medical services.
“A courtesy visit to the Governor of Lagos State is also scheduled as part of the programme, underscoring the strong partnership between the Federal Government, through the National Sports Commission, and the Lagos State Government.
“In delivering a successful maiden edition, the Commission reiterates commitment to ensuring the National Intermediate Games serve as a vital platform for talent discovery, athlete development and advancement of grassroots sports across the country.”
