Bashir “Bust” Ssemuyaba is on the verge of joining the backroom coaching staff at Lugazi Football Club.

Kawowo Sports has established that Ssemuyaba has verbally agreed with the club management and all that remains is appending his signature on the employment documentations.

“Ssemuyaba and Lugazi Football Club are now at par. Everything has been completed and what remains is mere signing. He is a great coach who comes with good experience and will be a valuable added asset to the club coffers” a highly placed source inside the club that requested to remain anonymous revealed.

His experience is enormous having handled Kiyinda Boys, Kaaro Kalungi, Ssingo Ssaza, Mawokota Ssaza, Mbarara City, NEC and lately Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) football clubs.

Besides the vast football knowledge, Ssemuyaba is also a great man manager and has tamed the dressing room at every club duly served with full professionalism, diligence and caution.

Having surpassed the bare-minimum at the CAF “A” pre-entry examinations, Ssemuyamba is expected to enroll for the demanding hitherto prestigious  CAF “A” class next month.

At Lugazi Football Club, he is expected to deputize Abbey “Capello” Bogere Kikomeko who recently joined the club on a two-year deal.

Kikomeko replaced Simon Peter Mugerwa who was relieved of his duties at the apex of the 2025/26 season.

Given his quick adaptability and exceptional inter-personal relations, Ssemuyaba is expected to fit into the Lugazi philosophy in a record time and work comfortably with Kikomeko, a known admirer of that swift flow of the ball regardless of the prevailing pressure at hand.

Lugazi had an up and down curve movement throughout the 2025/26 season, often threatened with the looming relegation monster before finally saving face at the 11th hour.

The club which is christened as the “Leaders” hosts their home games at the Lugazi stadium, situated in the heart of Africa’s largest Tropical rain forest, Mabira.

The new season (2026/27) is ear-marked to kick off in late September 2026.
