Goalkeeper Mutakubwa brings experience, character, leadership to Kitara Football Club

Management of Kitara Football Club continues to soul search in preparation for the upcoming 2026/27 season where they will compete on the domestically and on the continent.

The Hoima city based entity has captured the treasured signature of experienced and reliable goalkeeper Joel “Vama” Mutakubwa.

Mutakubwa penned a two-year deal with “The Royals” with a tempting transfer fee that club president Deo Kasozi smilingly forked out of his financial coffers.

The- national team shot stopper returns to Uganda from Ethiopia where he enjoyed a spell after his transfer from BUL football club.

He boosts the goalkeeping department for Kitara that is coached by Yusuf “Sheyi” Ssenyonjo, joining another experienced goalkeeper in Meddie Kibirige, at a time James Alitho and youngster Aziz Saleh were let go for greener pastures.

Mutakubwa is expected to come forth with the worthy experience, the right mentality and character as well as leadership.

“Mutakubwa is a national team goalkeeper, a leader and one player ready to push the team ahead at all times. He is proven.” Kasozi disclosed to Kawowo Sports.

Kitara Football Club has been a busier party in the transfer market with a number of outstanding signings as Ghanaian defender Bonny Christopher, Martin Kizza Lubwama (wide attacker), Jackson Ssembatya (left back) and Diego Missi Ssemugera (midfielder)

The Royals have released journeyman Muhammed Shaban, Yunus Sibira, Sadiq Ssekyembe, Eric Tumwine, Amir Kakomo, Frank Kasumba as well as the goalkeeping duo of James Alitho and Aziz Saleh.

Sibira has since sought for fresh fodder as Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA).

Kitara will represent Uganda in the CAF Confederation Cup.

Meanwhile, Kitara Sugar Limited, the main shirt sponsors of Kitara Football Club renewed their contract until 2028, forking a reasonable Ug.Shs 300,000,000.
